"Let's Apply BTO" instead of "Let's Get Married"

Recalling my memories in 1999, after my polytechnic graduation, immediately I got a job and the next thing I did was to apply a HDB Built-To-Order (BTO) because back then the average waiting time is about 5 years. However, I got my first BTO only in less than 1 year as there were balance units for earlier occupation, which ended up to be become married.

It seems many years passed and this statement "Let's Apply BTO" is still popular question among many couples too even before proposing marriage. Young couples from courtship, dating next thing they will want to apply BTO in order to start their family planning. I am sure with the new era and many new thinking of young couples, some might end up marrying the "BTO" or some might end up giving up their flat with the long wait after applying.

I will seriously encourage young couples to think about marriage and parenthood before thinking on which BTO locations, what is the budget they can afford. Like many young couples, I had always wanted to have my own house AND my own family. At the age of 21 and begin to pay housing instalment where many of my friends are still enjoying freedom and travel around.

Like many young couples, after getting the dream home, the next thing will be engaging a interior designer to renovate the house. A 90sqm 4room flat in Sembawang area 5mins walk to MRT cost about $20,000 with simple fittings and fixtures for the house.

In fact, think back securing a Property at earlier age isn’t a bad idea too except must make sure what are the cost involved such as :

3) Renovation Cost

4) Furniture Cost
